Be Heard event on 1 July - free to members

ANZCA Conference in Wellington 9-11 July

The biggest annual gathering in Australasia for communication educators and researchers is happening in Wellington. The Australian and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA) Conference is planned for 9-11 July.

ANZCA describes itself as the “peak professional body for communication, mass communication, public relations and journalism educators in Australasia”.

Key note speakers include Professor Maxwell McCombs famous for his development of agenda setting theory, Professor Jennifer Craik who has an international reputation in cultural and media theory and New Zealand’s own Nicky Hagar, investigative journalist.

IABC study finds face-to-face conversations still strong

Face-to-face, direct communication is the most common form of employee communication used by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), according to recent research commissioned by the IABC Research Foundation and the Gevity Institute.

The buzz … on the crisis management event

The CYFS Watch team from the Ministry of Social Development received a giant tick with 80% of respondents to our evaluation survey rating their presentation as “excellent”.

Described as “a valuable and honest discussion” MSD’s presentation on the ”naming and shaming” of Child, Youth and Family Social  workers on  the CYFS Watch website reinforced the value of a multi-disciplined team approach when dealing with crisis communications.
