IABC South Island takes off
IABC’s presence in New Zealand is expanding with the launch of the IABC South Island Chapter in Christchurch on 30 October. Pictured are members of the seven-strong Board with Barbara Gibson, International Chair, IABC and Adrian Cropley, Director IABC International Executive Board.
Around 50 communicators found out what it means to be part of one of the largest international strategic business communication organisations from speakers’ Barbara Gibson and Adrian Cropley.
President Jill Short (front left) said that she had stumbled upon IABC about three years ago and was really excited by the opportunities to access global best practice resources and network with leading international communication professionals.
She believes the “time is ripe for redefining communication for the business community in the South Island. My hope is that we will attract diverse participation from business leaders (chief executives, HR managers, general managers) extending responsibility for communication beyond the traditional domain of PR”.
IABC Wellington’s President, Simon Pleasants says the Wellington Board is greatly looking forward to working with the new chapter as it will facilitate bringing out to New Zealand some excellent international communications practitioners.
