The Department of Internal Affairs has a vacancy for a Press Secretary in the office of Hon Gerry Brownlee, Minister for Economic Development, Minister of Energy and Resources, Leader of the House, Associate Minister for the Rugby World Cup.
We are seeking applicants with significant background in the media. Experience in the print media would be preferable, but is not essential.
This position requires a proactive person who thinks strategically, and who has the drive to successfully and efficiently communicate with a range of audiences using appropriate media. Duties include advising the Minister on media matters, writing speeches and news releases.
A member of the Ministerial team, the Press Secretary is also expected to participate in a wider team of press secretaries and liaise with external media representatives.
