Best practices in communication planning and implementation: The 2004 collection of Gold Quill award-winning case studies (Vol 19)

Treat this collection of case studies as part of your planning toolkit when you need a bit of inspiration. I had this volume sitting on a shelf for weeks before I delved into its daunting 500 pages. I wished I’d looked at it sooner.

The case studies are divided into 20 categories meaning you should easily find ones relevant to your communications field, and they’re a very digestable four-five pages long peppered with useful headings. All finish with a meaty evaluation/measurement type heading, which is something to aspire to. Categories range from the obvious ones like “Government relations” and “Issues management” to the surprising ones like “Benefits communication” and “Photography”.

In my search for case studies on staff conferences I came across three useful ones from around the globe, plus a bonus un-related find – a case study on introducing a style guide to 1700 employees at Auckland City Council (a matter of interest to me also). Now, I fancy a study day to read more … but sadly I really must surrender the collection for another IABC colleague.
