Volunteers
A volunteer Board runs the IABC Wellington chapter, but we also need the help of enthusiastic people to take on volunteer jobs to help our Chapter deliver excellence in communications for all our members.
As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:
- develop new skills
- make new contacts and strengthen existing ones
- get a taste for what it might be like to take on a Board position
- serve to better the communications profession
- add value to your CV and job prospects!
Professional development and volunteering
Professional development doesn’t need to involve going to a seminar or conference. According to Lucy Sanderson-Gammon, the first president of IABC Wellington, her year as President was the most useful professional development experience she’s ever had.
“With a brand-new board, the president’s role involves the full gamut of management competencies: recruitment and selection, development and mentoring, planning and strategizing, networking and emceeing, communication and leadership — the list goes on!”
